JBL Xtreme 6000mAh Battery Mod

Here is the video, i did replace the original battery of my JBL Xtreme 1 with Samsung 18650 30Q battery cells. This way i have 20% more power in the unit. It'll hopefully play now 18 hours instead of 15 hours.

A few years back i replaced the battery already with old used laptop battery cells. This was basically recycled batteries. If you think about a laptop battery pack, if only one cell dies, the whole pack gets replaced. there may be many other batteries in the pack that are still usable. That's what i did, and now was the time to spend about $30 for four Samsung 18650-30Q cells with 3000mAh each.

The original JBL battery cells have about 2500mAh each.

In order to fit the batteries into the Xtreme 1 housing, we need to modify it a little. But it is not very difficult, and once you do it the new 18650 batteries fit nicely into the slot.

See here the original video where i show how to modify the case.

I am re-using the old BMS board from the old pocket batteries, it is easy to remove, and you just solder a few new wires to it. Look at the schematic i made for this here:

I hope you liked it, leave comments, and subscribe to my channel!

If you use a LG MJ1 3500mAh for this pack, you could get a battery pack with 4 x 3500mAh = 14,000mAh, and that would be 4,000mAh more than the OEM pack.

Very exiting, because that would mean 40% more energy than the original. I shall try this, and modify my brand new Xtreme 3. If it plays 15 hours, as it says in the specs, then with 40% more, it may play for 21 hours, if my math is correct. Amazing.

How to Check the Jeep Transmission Oil Level

The NAG1 transmission is used by Chrysler in many models. Searching the internet you'll find a good amount of information on that transmission, and how to check the oil level.

It seems a little tricky at first, but it is not. One thing you need is a dipstick. One that measures the level from the bottom of the oil pan. Stick it into the dipstick tube as far as possible, while the engine is running, and the shifter in P.

There is no way around it. Look for a dealer dipstick on the internet, or go to a local auto parts store. It is possible to find one for a few dollars. The dipstick should come with a manual and a trans fluid level chart. Here is an example:

As for the temperature, you want to measure the oil level, when the trans fluid is hot. Why would you not measure at the temperature at which the transmission is used most of the time, the operating temperature. That temp maybe different from car to car, but after driving for about 15 minutes it should reach that temperature. Unless it is winter, and very cold in the area you drive. At that point it may take longer. If you uncertain you hopefully have an instrument panel, a board computer that shows that temperature.
It can only be read, when the transmission is in gear. D works best. Don't forget to shift back to P once you read the temp.

Good luck to you, and comment with questions, if you like!

Firework Sounds for Dog Training

Download the audio files i used in my YouTube videos here:

Firework Sounds for Dogs #2 Download here

This audio soundtrack goes with my training video that explains how to firework proof your dog.

Just play this to your dog on a very low volume. If your dog hides, then you played it too loud.
Don't stress your dog. Play this sound every day, until you feel the dog doesn't care about it anymore.
Turn up the volume a little bit every day. Watch for signs of stress.

If the dog is stressed out, then you play the sound too loud.
Time and patience is what you need to fix this fear of fireworks.

Solar Panel Charge Controller Modification

I bought the solar panel kit from Harbor Freight. It includes a solar charger controller. The controller has a volt meter, but it doesn't have an energy counter with A, Ah, and W display.

Then i found a LCD Digital Display Multimeter.

That sounded like fun, and in this video i show how i modified the controller, and how i wired it up to perfectly fit into the enclosure.  I will post my video on YouTube very soon:

Video will be here.

At the end of the video i show how to set a low and high voltage alarm.
Enjoy! Let me know in the comments how you like it.
